Moving to Askia V7 FAQ
Q: How long will the update process take?
A: It depends on what Askia products you have . . .
- AskiaField without a dialer: half a day of downtime
- AskiaField with a dialer: one day of downtime
- AskiaVista: half a day of downtime
It would be optimal if your team can be ready to test things are working smoothly as soon as we have completed the upgrade.
We recommendbacking up the SQL databases before the upgrade.
Q: Can we do this out of office hours?
A: We much prefer to do things during office hours as we want support staff to be available if needed (and we will always try to minimise the downtime for AskiaWeb).
Q: Can we still use older versions of AskiaSuite once we have upgraded AskiaField to v7?
A: It is important that all software versions are on the same track, so you will need to upgrade all AskiaSuite installations to v7 as well.
Q: What about CATI & Supervisor?
A: Yes, these will need to be on v7 too. Note that Cati & Supervisor are both in 64-bit from v7 and will be installed by default in C:\Program Files\AskiaField\ - you might have to recreate your shortcuts post the upgrade.
Q: And what about the CAPI apps – do they all need to be v7 also?
A: There is a v7 option for Face for Windows, but not yet for Face for iOS or Android. The v7 Field version will still work with the CAPI apps that use the v5.5.3 engine. However, the relevant new v7 functionalities and keywords will not be supported on these CAPI apps.
